Your role within Social and Affordable Housing Growth will support the department to deliver well-designed, safe and secure social housing to assist Queenslanders who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Through partnerships, Social and Affordable Housing Growth provides and influences the provision of safe, secure, affordable and appropriate housing to the people of Queensland and the building of vibrant and connected precincts and communities in which they live. We influence, plan, design, procure and contract the delivery of contemporary housing solutions that meet the needs of our clients, reflect local community needs and support jobs in regional Queensland. We maintain, upgrade and renew a housing portfolio of over 74,000 dwellings to ensure our tenants are safe, secure and in housing that continues to meet their needs.
The Senior Planning Officer provides town planning services and advice for different aspects of the development of a large property portfolio for the implementation of the Queensland Housing Strategy.
What You Will Be Doing
Create opportunities through state, regional and local planning processes that advance housing choice and affordability and the development of the department's property portfolio.
Undertake town planning analysis and research to assess the development potential of a site based on planning scheme and site conditions.
Provide advice on social housing projects using the department's processes and procedures for compliance with the Planning Act 2016 and other relevant legislation.
Conduct place-based analysis and research to assess local renewal and redevelopment opportunities.
Identify opportunities at a regional level in partnership with planning authorities.
Facilitate engagement and partnerships with State agencies and Local Government Authorities during the preparation and review of statutory regional plans and planning schemes to advance the department's capacity for delivering under the Housing Strategy.
Analyse the impact of legislation, statutory regional plans, planning schemes and government infrastructure priorities on the State's housing property portfolio.
Provide expert town planning advice on property development and strategic planning matters associated with the department's social housing portfolio.
Prepare high level correspondence, reports and position papers.
Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.
Mandatory Requirements
While not a mandatory requirement, a tertiary qualification in town/urban planning will be highly regarded.
