Job Description
The Career Medical Officer - Paediatric Emergency Medicine role provides an opportunity to assess and manage children in the ambulatory, acute care and resuscitation areas of the Emergency Department working with a team of paediatric trainees, emergency trainees, RMO's, experienced nursing, allied health and clerical staff. The position is for 20 hours per week (0.53FTE), working rostered 10-hour shifts and is comprised primarily of clinical duties.
Responsibilities
* Assess and manage children in the ambulatory, acute care and resuscitation areas of the Emergency Department
* Work with a team of paediatric trainees, emergency trainees, RMO's, experienced nursing, allied health and clerical staff
* Participate in teaching and departmental quality assurance as required
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must have:
* MBBS or equivalent qualification
* Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
* Minimum five years post-graduate experience with minimum 36 months in Paediatrics, or Emergency Medicine experience in an Emergency Department with a paediatric patient caseload
* An interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
* Completed APLS within 5 years or is a current APLS Instructor and demonstrates competency in common paediatric procedures
* Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals
