About the Role
As a senior level Urban Designer, you'll play a leadership role in shaping cities and places, bringing strategic insight, design excellence, and a strong understanding of place‐making to complex urban projects. You'll lead major commissions from concept through delivery, manage client relationships, and guide multidisciplinary teams to achieve meaningful, high‐quality outcomes. This role balances design leadership with project, people, and commercial responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide design leadership across urban strategies, master plans, and public realm projects, ensuring excellence in outcomes
* Lead projects end-to-end, including scope definition, programming, resourcing, budgets, and delivery
* Act as a key client interface, building trusted relationships with public and private sector stakeholders
* Guide and mentor urban designers and graduates, supporting capability development within the team
* Oversee and review design outputs, ensuring clarity, quality, and alignment with project objectives
* Lead workshops, design charrettes, and stakeholder and community engagement processes
* Contribute strategically to business development, including tenders, proposals, and thought leadership
* Collaborate closely with directors and senior leaders to shape project direction and studio growth
What You'll Bring
* A degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture
* Significant professional experience leading urban design projects within consultancy or public‐sector environments
* Strong design, technical, and review capabilities across AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, SketchUp (and similar tools)
* Demonstrated experience managing consultants, coordinating disciplines, and leading project teams
* Well‐developed communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging clients and stakeholders
* A strategic, commercially aware mindset with a passion for creating high‐quality urban outcomes
* A valid Queensland Class C Driver's License
* Legal right to live and work in Australia
