**Your new role**
Reporting to the FM Asset Services Group Manager, the Engineering Maintenance Manager will play a critical leadership role in the development and ongoing team management of the Royal Melbourne Hospital's expansive engineering maintenance department as well as be accountable for all buildings, infrastructure, and associated plant operations to ensure safe, compliant, and effective patient care.
Day to day, you will be responsible for but not limited to;
- Positively developing, nurturing, and leading a collaborative team culture focussed on safety, empowerment and personal development, aligning individual success with strong service delivery of the engineering maintenance department
- Directly managing up to 5 internal staff and indirectly up to 21 trade staff and associated contractors
- Strategically reviewing and developing asset management plans for the hospital's entire engineering asset base utilising 'whole of life' asset management practices, to the required safety and performance standards
- Developing, implementing and maintaining the effective delivery of reactive and preventive maintenance plans for; electrical, essential services, HVAC, HV/LV and lifts etc.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering or Asset Management combined with extensive knowledge and demonstrated local experience in managing a large-scale facility or large critical asset (hospitals, data centres, courts, prisons etc.)
- Strong demonstrated experience in direct team management and leadership with a focus on fostering strong service delivery, monitoring KPIs and performance reviews
- Extensive experience developing and implementing maintenance strategies with comprehensive understanding and experience in 'whole of life' asset management practices
- Excellent stakeholder management with solid ability to negotiate and influence decisions at a senior management level as well as liaising with clinical/non-clinical staff and developing and maintaining positive partnerships both internally and externally
- Though not mandatory, ideally, you will have demonstrated understanding of Infection Prevention principles and compliance
