About the Role
We're seeking a highly driven Operations Manager to lead operations for our business which predominantly services the mining and heavy equipment industries. Working closely with our Chief Operating Officer, Supervisors, Field Personnel, and internal support teams, you'll play a critical role in focusing service delivery, managing performance, and strengthening customer relationships.
This is not a behind-the-desk role – it's an active, visible leadership position ideal for someone who enjoys being on the ground, solving real-world challenges, and building team capability.
This role will initially cover an extended leave period for our Queensland Operations Manager, before transitioning to lead our New South Wales team and support future growth and expansion. This is a permanent full-time, Monday to Friday role that is site-based, with FIFO/DIDO flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and support field operations, job scheduling, and daily coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and timely service delivery.
* Coach, mentor, and support field leaders with hands-on leadership and performance development.
* Conduct regular reviews of site work, quality assurance, safety compliance, and documentation.
* Act as the final point of escalation for operational or client-related issues, ensuring a proactive problem-solving approach
* Drive a customer-centric culture and maintain strong client relationships through regular contact, service reviews, and issue resolution.
* Lead incident response, safety initiatives, and compliance with regulatory and site-specific requirements.
* Collaborate with logistics, workshop, and warehouse teams to ensure field operations run smoothly.
* Monitor performance metrics (e.g., utilisation, work-in-progress, overtime, customer KPIs) and support continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring
To succeed in this role, you'll be a proactive and pragmatic leader who thrives in a fast-paced field service environment with:
* 10+ years of experience in operations or service management within a mining services or maintenance business.
* Proven leadership of trade-based or blue-collar teams, ideally in mining, industrial, or field service settings.
* A strong understanding of mine site safety, compliance, and site access requirements.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a clear focus on customer satisfaction.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to safe, quality-driven operations.
* A valid manual driver's licence and willingness to travel.
* Experience with job scheduling tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Trade qualification will also be considered however not essential
