How you’ll make a difference
This is an operational leadership role responsible for overseeing the safe, effective and efficient delivery of reactive and scheduled maintenance of Council’s civil infrastructure, i.e., roads, bridges, footpaths, shared paths, drainage, and kerb and channel.
Your positive nature and great communication skills will foster a responsive and enthusiastic team culture and your professionalism will enhance Council’s reputation as a responsive and efficient organisation.
Prepare project plans and methodologies to complete all civil maintenance projects, including sealed and unsealed road maintenance, footpath and shared path maintenance, and drainage maintenance.
Develop and deliver civil infrastructure maintenance programs to ensure compliance to relevant timeframes and in accordance with relevant legislation, asset management plans and service standards.
Assist in the preparation of project summaries for capital expenditure projects.
Assist in the development and implementation of effective maintenance management programs for newly completed civil infrastructure assets.
Supervise contractors engaged to undertake works and services on agreed projects.
Provide advice to inform the work of other departments during the development and implementation of master plans, projects, policies and strategies.

Our ideal candidate
You will have strong leadership skills and an in-depth understanding of civil works. You will have excellent communication and relationship skills, which will lead, support and motivate your team. You will also have excellent customer service skills and have well developed technology skills.
Current Driver Licence
Qualifications related to civil works delivery with relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience
Valid Working with Children Check and Police clearance checks
First aid certificate – Level 2
Experience in Local Government is advantageous
Extensive experience in civil works practices would be an advantage
Experience in implementing and monitoring traffic management plans
Demonstrated ability to provide high quality work and customer service
Well-developed computer skills, in particular Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems
