The Team & Role

The Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit (EPRU) is responsible for whole‐of‐Agency emergency management for the Department of Health.

Manager – Emergency Management

The Manager – Emergency Management supports the Director – Emergency Management in delivering the EPRU programme of work, leads significant projects to strengthen emergency management capability across the Tasmanian health system, and provides high‐level strategic, policy and planning advice. The role also fosters and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You will need

* High level project management and organisational skills including the ability to identify, develop and implement solutions to drive effective change at a whole‐of‐system or organisational level.
* Highly developed communication, liaison, and negotiation skills, with proven ability to cultivate strategic relationships and work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior executives.
* Ability to conduct high level research and analysis of matters and with consideration to the political, social, and organisational environments to inform strategic and policy positions and direction.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full‐time, day worker (with on‐call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

* Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‐time, part‐time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

General Stream Band 7$128,102 to $134,832 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

* Qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent professional experience in any of the following subject areas:
o Policy and planning
o Project management/coordination
o Emergency management
o Other subject area/s relevant to the position

Position Features

* A flexible working arrangement may be negotiated.
* In the event of a major emergency, the occupant of this position may be required to work outside normal business hours to support Department of Health (DoH) and/or broader whole‐of‐government emergency response.
* Regular intra and inter‐state travel is a requirement of this role.
* Must be available to participate in an on‐call Duty Officer roster.
