Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
We are seeking motivated and compassionate Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) to join our busy and rewarding Emergency Department (ED) team.
This is a part‐time position of 45 hours per fortnight, working 7.5‐hour shifts across early, late and night duty, including weekend work. This role requires you to maintain availability across these 24/7 rotating roster patterns.
Working as part of a multi‐disciplinary environment, you will support caregivers to deliver high‐quality, safe and timely patient care. This role is essential to maintaining efficient patient flow and ensuring a clean, safe and well‐prepared clinical environment.
The Position
All direct patient care is carried out under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses. All duties are carried out in accordance with the duty list. Assist with patient movement, repositioning and safe transfers under the direction of nursing staffSupport patient hygiene, comfort needs and basic care activitiesMaintain cleanliness of patient bays, treatment spaces and equipmentRestock clinical areas to ensure readiness for patient careAssist with patient admission, transfer and discharge processesRespond to call bells and patient needs promptlyEnsure patient privacy, dignity and safety at all timesContribute to a positive, supportive and fast‐paced team environment
You will hold a Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Client/Patient Services) or similar qualification or be currently undertaking a tertiary health‐related degree. You will also demonstrate well‐developed communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a commitment to providing safe, high‐quality patient care.
To succeed in this role, you will bring sound food handling and hygiene skills, knowledge of basic cleanliness standards, and an understanding of manual handling principles.

Salary: $54,594 to $57,990 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuationPermanent part-time position, with up to 45 hours per fortnight.
