Overview
This role is responsible for driving the commodity strategy for assigned multiple commodities – Power Box, Value Added Frames, & Sheet Metal.
The self‐motivated candidate will plan, organize and control business/contracts/negotiations for strategic acquisition of materials and services of technical or contractual nature within Global Supply Chain.
A Strategic Commodity Manager will be responsible for driving supplier contract management, conducting supplier negotiations, analytically formulating and executing comprehensive supplier management strategies based on semiconductor technology landscapes and global business environments within the assigned commodity.
Responsibilities
* Drive supplier contract management.
* Conduct supplier negotiations.
* Analytically formulate and execute comprehensive supplier management strategies based on semiconductor technology landscapes and global business environments within the assigned commodity.
* Establish Supplier Strategy, evaluate/sourc[e] suppliers and manage supplier relationships to drive projects to achieve goals of global procurement efforts.
* Continuously scan markets and the global landscape to explore and evaluate strategic suppliers.
* Coordinate with finance/accounting for inventory, cost savings and cash flow management.
* Evaluate new suppliers considering organization capabilities, technology expertise, production capabilities, financial performance, customer orientation and supply chain robustness.
* Ensure suppliers have adequate capacity to support Lam demand and supply continuity risk management plans.
* Represent on a cross‐functional strategic commodity team that focuses on supply challenges and ensures internal/external customer needs are satisfied.
* Work cross‐functionally with product, manufacturing and quality engineers as well as procurement, finance and product support.
* Regularly evaluate cost and quality performance benchmarks and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection.
* Manage supplier performance through scorecards and other related parameters.
* Encourage and coordinate early supplier involvement in new product designs to optimize quality, cost and manufacturability.
* Coordinate with engineering for identifying and onboarding new suppliers for NPI, design change management and qualification of alternates.
* Manage commodity spend by negotiating or mitigating price increases.
* Plan and execute cost‐reduction strategies through negotiations, material cost reductions, alternate sourcing and technology changes.
* Support material availability escalations and coordinate with suppliers to ensure no line‐down.
* Support quality escalations to ensure standards/processes and part/supplier compliance.
* Manage contracts for ongoing and new business with suppliers.
* Perform data analysis and representation for sourcing and pricing evaluation and decision making.
* Develop and maintain business continuity plans and risk‐management programs.
Qualifications
* Minimum 10–12 years in commodity management in the engineering/manufacturing industry.
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or any other related stream.
* MBA is an added advantage.
* Experience in commodity management with familiarity in semiconductor, electrical equipment manufacturing or high‐technology supply‐management practices, standards and organizations.
* Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods and commodities as related to cost structure.
* Business and technical background covering Power Box, Value added frames, sheet metal, commercial off‐the‐shelf items, OEM, cable assembly and components, electro‐mechanical parts, etc.
* Proven ability to build partnerships and excel working in a cross‐functional environment with new product introduction, manufacturing, quality and reliability engineers, procurement, finance and product support teams.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills with a history of successful resolution.
* Attention to detail, sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‐paced environment.
* Six Sigma Green Belt or above is a plus.
* Experience in the capital‐equipment industry such as semiconductors, medical equipment, construction equipment, etc.
Work Location Models
* On‐site Flex – work 3+ days per week on site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week.
* Virtual Flex – work 1–2 days per week on site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
