The role
Consultant Psychiatrist (Consultation Liaison / Adult) – Albany
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) offers a Full‐time or Part‐time Consultant Psychiatrist role in the Great Southern region. The position begins July 2024 and may be Permanent, Fixed‐Term, or a recruitment pool role.
Compensation: MP Year 1–9: $412,161 – $523,436 per annum (inclusive of base salary, 12% superannuation and professional development allowance, subject to qualifications and experience).
About The Role
You will deliver comprehensive clinical assessments and psychiatric care for adults in community or inpatient settings. The caseload and on‐call commitments are manageable. Responsibilities include managing Consultation Liaison referrals from general medicine, surgical and maternity wards and supporting the palliative care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnoses and psychiatric treatment.
- Liaise with general practitioners and other health professionals.
- Supervise and mentor medical students, junior doctors and registrars.
- Participate in continuing professional development and contribute to education, training and research projects.
- Participate in the mental health team on‐call roster and ECT roster.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Registration by the Medical Board of Australia in Psychiatry.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or eligibility for fellowship.
- Extensive clinical experience in adult mental health.
Desirable:
- Experience in Consultation Liaison psychiatry.
