We are seeking an experienced Paralegal that has specialised in a leasing function, to join our high performing Group Legal - Commercial Property & Capital Transactions team, part of our wider Group Legal & Risk business, Sydney based in our Head Office but offering the flexibility to work across home/office.
**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, this role will play an integral part in supporting across our commercial property portfolio, including retail, workplace, and logistics. Through the provision of providing sound legal advice in relation to the documentation of leasing transactions, in line with Stockland's risk framework. Your role will see you engaging with a wide breadth of internal stakeholders across the enterprise and externally, other legal partners.
Some of the Key Responsibilities will include:
- Prepare, negotiate, finalise high-volume leasing documents and provide specialist legal advice for high-volume and high-quality leasing work
- Present and discuss leasing transaction documents, details, and risk to internal business partners
- Ensure lease documentation and projects are delivered in a consultative and customer focussed manner, mindful of delivery timeframes
- Ensure the effective management of legal expenditure in line with service agreements with external legal partners
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to external legal partners and/or the Senior Legal Counsel on the key performance metrics under which external legal partners are engaged
- Provide advice to stakeholders which aligns with business objectives and within acceptable risk profiles, escalating as required to the Senior Legal Counsel
**About You**:
Essential to this role, for you to succeed, you must have paralegal experience and specialised in leasing/and or extensive lease negotiation experience, in a high-volume environment, inhouse or private practice. In addition;
- Appropriate tertiary qualification and/or extensive relevant experience
- Ability to demonstrate your understanding of leases or contracts, in either the property or legal industry
- Exposure to commercial and retail leasing, with landlord-side experience highly desirable
- Solid working knowledge of retail leasing legislation across Australian jurisdictions
- Possess commercial acumen
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines within tight operational and financial deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with solid interpersonal skills, the capacity to work collaboratively with different functions and a strong team player
