About the role
Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Clinical Nurse to join the CSSD Department team on a permanent, part-time or full-time basis.
The Clinical Nurse will work in conjunction with the CSSD team for the safe, efficient and effective day to day operations of the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD). The position involves input into maintaining quality assurance processes, fostering effective communication with multidisciplinary teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to deliver safe and reliable CSSD services.
Our Clinical Nurses provide additional leadership and advanced clinical competency to our Nursing Team, using their extensive experience to provide mentorship and guidance to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members, supporting the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in activities designed to aid the sustainability of the Clinical Stream and assist with skill development.
Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:
* Competent clinical practice for safe environment
* Assess and respond to clinical and CSSD problems
* Work with NUM to ensure resources for quality CSSD services
* Act as preceptor/mentor for staff, assist with competency assessment
* Monitor and audit sterilisation procedures
* Maintain contemporary knowledge in CSSD practices
* Liaise with clinical personnel for high-quality service
* Ensure compliance with legislative and organisational policies and procedures
About you
* The successful candidate will have current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.
* Ability to work in all areas of CSSD with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
* Certificate III in Sterilisation Services or working towards, highly desirable
* Previous experience of at least three (3) years in a CSSD role.
* Sound working knowledge and demonstrated experience in the implementation of the National Standards for quality improvement.
* A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
