About The Role
Barwon Health's Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional mental health services in Australia, delivering specialist care across acute, community, and recovery-oriented settings.
We are seeking 6 first-year Psychiatry Registrars to commence in February 2027 through the PMCV match process. This is a highly competitive recruitment period, and we are looking for candidates who are committed to building a career in psychiatry within a progressive, well-supported training environment.
As a Registrar within MHDAS, you will join a cohort of 30+ Psychiatry Trainees undertaking Accredited Training Through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College Of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). You will benefit from a structured, high-performing training program with consistently strong exam success rates; exposure to a broad range of core and non-core rotations across public, private, and partner services; supervision from accredited Consultant Psychiatrists committed to your development; strong academic links with Deakin University School of Medicine and the IMPACT Strategic Research Centre; a workplace culture that actively supports wellbeing, psychological safety, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high‐quality, patient‐centred psychiatric care across inpatient and community settings, including assessment, formulation, and treatment planning under supervision
* Progress through RANZCP‐accredited training rotations, achieving required competencies and actively engaging in education and reflective practice
* Contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams to support collaborative, recovery‐oriented care
* Participate in after‐hours rosters while fostering a culture of psychological safety, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement
