The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive, highly organised Laboratory Manager to manage daily operations in our high‑volume laboratory. You'll lead a skilled team, optimise workflows, and ensure accurate, timely results, driving operational excellence and keeping the lab running smoothly.
* Oversee day‑to‑day laboratory operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely turnaround of work.
* Provide strong leadership, guidance, and performance management to a team of laboratory technicians, scientists, and support staff.
* Plan, prioritise, and allocate workloads to maintain productivity in a high‑volume environment.
* Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and laboratory protocols.
* Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting when necessary.
* Maintain inventory, manage ordering of supplies, and control operational budgets where required.
* Support onboarding and training of new team members while fostering a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
* Partner with senior management and stakeholders to improve processes and achieve goals.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or diploma in Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting.
* Must have experience in histology.
* Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
* Thrives in a fast‑paced environment and manages competing priorities effectively.
* Working knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality management systems.
* Proven ability to lead teams, manage workflows, and drive continuous improvement.
* Knowledge of NATA quality systems, Laboratory Information Systems, and/or PowerPath is advantageous.
Ability to work full‑time, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend support if required. Flexibility on shift times would be required based on business demand.
