The Opportunity As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, you will provide comprehensive orthopaedic services across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and elective settings. Key responsibilities include: Delivering specialist orthopaedic care to inpatients and outpatients Managing acute trauma and fracture presentations Conducting regular elective orthopaedic operating lists Supervising weekly fracture clinics Providing consultative support to the Emergency Department and other hospital specialties Participating in a 1:5 after-hours and weekend on-call roster Supporting regional and community-based orthopaedic services Contributing to service planning, innovation, and clinical governance initiatives Participating in teaching, mentoring, and supervision of junior medical staff Supporting Indigenous Health and Refugee Health programs across the region This is a diverse role offering a combination of elective surgery, trauma management, outpatient practice, and service development. The Orthopaedic Department The Orthopaedic Service provides: General Orthopaedic Surgery Fracture Management Trauma Services Elective Surgical Programs Outpatient Clinics Emergency Orthopaedic Consultations Consultants work within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment supported by: Emergency Medicine Anaesthesia Intensive Care Rehabilitation Medicine Physiotherapy and Allied Health Services Surgical Registrars and Junior Medical Staff The department is committed to ongoing service growth and innovation, creating excellent opportunities for clinicians who wish to contribute to the future direction of regional orthopaedic care. International Orthopaedic Surgeons Encouraged to Apply Applications are welcomed from: FRACS-qualified Orthopaedic Surgeons UK-trained Consultants (CCT holders) Irish, New Zealand, Canadian and South African specialists International Medical Graduates assessed by RACS as Substantially Comparable or Partially Comparable The hospital has extensive experience supporting IMG specialists and provides a highly collegiate environment where many international surgeons have successfully progressed through specialist pathway assessments while practising in Australia.
