POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Climate Manager is responsible for supporting the Climate Manager in all areas to ensure a smooth, structured learning environment for students and staff in our Elementary and Middle School buildings (Grades K-8).
MACS has a culture of respect and kindness. The Assistant Climate Manager is expected to be the ultimate role model for exhibiting respect and kindness for all staff, students, and families while maintaining school expectations both behaviorally and academically.Regular and predictable attendance are essential functions of this position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Assisting in managing the school's climate, culture, and behavior programs
* Collecting and analyzing student discipline and behavior data and using data to inform intervention strategies
* Assisting the administrative team with handling student discipline issues
* Communicating and upholding school rules, values, and expectations in a clear and consistent manner, both in and out of the classroom
* Communicating with parents and students and responding to issues on a regular basis via phone, e-mail, and in-person, as needed
* Ensuring regular and predictable attendance on a daily basis
* Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
* At least two years of school experience required, preferably in the area of school climate and culture
* Commitment to urban education and a belief that all students should be held to high academic standards
* Strong work ethic, positive attitude, teamwork, and leadership skills
* High physical and emotional energy
* Strong technology skills
* Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to "wear many hats"
* Commitment to diversity and inclusion
WORKING CONDITIONS
The working conditions of an Assistant Climate Manager include:
* Very high levels of social interaction, with daily and consistent work with children, parents, and other teachers.
* Communicating face-to-face daily, as well as through phone, e-mail, letters, and memos.
* Being placed in conflict situations where parents and students might become angry or unpleasant.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Assistant Climate Managers are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
