The Role (Must Know Thai Food)
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team. You will work closely with the Head Chef to prepare delicious meals, ensuring every dish meets our high standards for taste and presentation. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Asian cooking techniques, specifically with the wok and balancing Thai flavors (sour, sweet, salty, and spicy).
Key Responsibilities
* Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients (mise en place), including cutting meats, chopping vegetables, and preparing traditional sauces and curry pastes.
* Cooking: Execute menu items efficiently during service, including wok station (stir-fries), curry station, and appetizers.
* Flavor Consistency: Ensure all dishes maintain authentic Thai taste profiles and consistent presentation standards.
* Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring stock levels, minimizing food waste, and receiving deliveries.
* Hygiene & Safety: Strictly adhere to food safety regulations (HACCP) and keep the kitchen, equipment, and utensils clean and sanitized at all times.
* Teamwork: Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff and kitchen colleagues to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
Requirements
* Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen (experience in Thai or Southeast Asian cuisine is highly preferred). Must know how to cook/prepare Thai food otherwise application will be rejected straight away
* Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in wok cooking (high heat).
* Deep knowledge of Thai ingredients (Galangal, Lemongrass, Kaffir Lime, Fish Sauce, etc.).
* Ability to balance flavors without constant supervision.
* Work Ethic: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
* Availability: Must be available to work rotating rosters, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
* Language: proficiency in English is required; ability to speak Thai is a strong advantage.
* Rights: Must have valid working rights in Australia.
