The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist Anatomical Pathology vacancy.
The department has received funding for two new positions to meet growing clinical demand and support service expansion. The role includes histopathology and cytology reporting, registrar training, participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, clinical teaching and opportunities for research.

Competitive Salary and Allowances
A total value package of up to $499,771* will be offered depending on your level of experience as of 1 January ****.
*Value calculated for a full-time, Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11, (excludes any on-call or call back provisions).
The work includes a broad range of interesting and complex specimens across almost all disciplines, including gastroenterology, dermatology, gynae-oncology, cardiothoracic surgery, breast surgery, neurosurgery, nephrology, plastic surgery, genitourinary and haematology. RHH provides the statewide non-coronial adult and perinatal post-mortem service. The department will be commencing a new solid-tumour molecular pathology service in ****.
Participate in the Anatomical Pathology services provided by the department of Anatomical Pathology at the RHH.
Undertake undergraduate teaching of medical students of the University of Tasmania.
Provide supervision and training of postgraduate specialist trainees.
Maintain involvement in research activities including supervision of research students.
Monitor the effectiveness of the services provided to patients.
Provide administrative functions to the unit as required.
Work collaboratively with scientific staff and other health professionals.
Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.

Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 pro rata per annum.
On call allowance % of Base Salary.
All other allowances as per current Award.
And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term full-time day work (with on-call), working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible until 19 December ****.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Holds specialist registration; or
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway;
Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
