Skills and experience
* Trade qualified Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
* Need to be flexible, will be rostered shifts including nights, weekends & public holidays
* Ability to work well in a team environment
* Passionate about food and delivering the best
* Be able to handle high volume, work efficiently & effectively in a fast paced environment
* Excellent communication skills
Roles & Responsibilities:
* Demonstrating culinary techniques and providing guidance on cooking procedures to junior chefs and kitchen staff.
* Preparing, seasoning, and cooking food according to the à la carte menu, accommodating dietary requirements as needed.
* Accurately estimating food and labour costs to maintain profitability and stay within budget.
* Ensuring that occupational health and safety standards are consistently maintained by the kitchen staff.
* Selecting and training kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, safety protocols, and hygiene standards.
* Designing and planning menus that reflect the restaurant's theme, seasonal availability, and customer preferences.
* Employing freezing and preservation techniques to keep food fresh and reduce waste.
* Collaborating closely with managers, dietitians, kitchen staff, and waitstaff to address operational, nutritional, and customer service needs for efficient and high-quality food service.
* Introducing innovative cooking techniques, recipes, and menu items to elevate our culinary offerings.
* Ordering food supplies while managing inventory levels to ensure timely deliveries.
* Monitoring the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation to guarantee consistency and adherence to standards.
