Overview
The Raytheon Australia Minor Vessels Engineering Team is seeking a bright and energised Naval Architect with a robust structural design background to support the Design and Engineering Change Team. The fleet of Minor Vessels is spread across WA, NT and QLD. As the Naval Architect, you will be responsible for all Naval Architecture and Structural discipline related activities overseeing the successful development and delivery of Engineering Changes for this fleet.
Responsibilities
* Oversee Naval Architecture and Structural discipline activities for the Minor Vessels Engineering Team.
* Develop and deliver Engineering Changes for the fleet in accordance with project schedules and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with stakeholders at client, peer, supplier and senior leadership levels.
* Prepare and review engineering documentation such as structural calculations, docking calculations, stability calculations, work instructions, test procedures and engineering reports.
* Apply knowledge of ship structural design and sustainment to local structures and foundations.
* Utilise CAD and Finite Element Analysis tools to support design and verification.
* Travel as required to support project needs.
Qualifications
* Tertiary Qualification in Naval Architecture with professional development sufficient to attain recognition as CPEng with Engineers Australia in a relevant engineering stream, including the ability to attain RPEQ recognition.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (or more with a University Degree).
* Experience in Structural and Naval Architecture discipline activities, including Requirements Development, Engineering Design, Design Integration, Verification and Validation.
* Experience producing clear, well-written reports and engineering documentation.
* Experience in ship structural design and sustainment and its application to local structures and foundations.
* Knowledge of statutory regulations, Classification and Flag state rule sets.
* Experience using CAD and Finite Element Analysis programs.
* Ability to work autonomously with initiative, good judgment and strong communication skills.
* Eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
* Ability to travel when required.
