About the role
Working as part of the Industrial Relations team, the IR Advisor supports the delivery of priority outcomes requiring specialist advice. Working closely with the Senior IR Specialists, the IR Advisor will assist and where directed coordinate key projects.
In this temporary role, the IR Advisor will focus on a large-scale project reviewing current employment processes to ensure legislative and Modern Award compliance, with a focus on record-keeping and payroll compliance practices. This will require aptitude in Australian Employment Law, Industrial Practices, as well as HR and Payroll systems.
Beyond this, this role also offers an opportunity to gain exposure to broader business-as-usual industrial relations matters through cyclical and ad hoc P&C activities where appropriate.
This is a Fixed Term 12-month position
Position Accountabilities
The IR Advisor will be predominantly responsible for championing the delivery of a key Industrial Relations project, as well as supporting the Senior Industrial Relations Specialists to achieve successful team outcomes.
Project
Coordinate IR/ER projects as directed and supervised by the Senior Industrial Relations Specialist/s including:
Business-wide classification review of all Modern Award and Award-free positions to ensure consistency in review;
Compliance review of employment contracts in coordination with our external legal team, and assessing where reissuing is appropriate;
Managing a review of the current better off overall salary test, to reduce time requirement and possibility of human error;
Review offset inclusions/exclusions for possible uplift to current process; and
Partner with internal P&C Centres of Excellence and external advisors to ensure efficient and effective delivery of project outcomes.
General Industrial Relations Support
Advise and assist on other priorities as required, taking guidance and direction from Senior Industrial Relations Specialist/s to support the wider HR business function;
Maintaining Industrial Relations records and other relevant documentation; and
Interpreting and applying current and emerging employment legislation, case law, Enterprise Agreements (EAs) and/or Awards, and contracts of employment within the organisation.
What Experience You'll Bring
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 2 years' experience in IR/ER roles
Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience
Strong knowledge of both historical and recent developments in Australian Industrial Relations
Solid experience in the development and implementation of Industrial Relation related projects
Ability to gain Business knowledge and understanding
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confident and influential communicator with an ability to engage effectively with all leadership levels
Discretion and confidentiality are mandatory
Proficiency in MS Office Suite/Google Workspace and HR Information Systems (HRIS)
