Providence's Enterprise Protective Security (EPS) team helps public sector and regulated industry clients protect their people, assets, information and reputation. We deliver risk assessments, evidence‑based advice, protective security education, and governance frameworks aligned with the Commonwealth's Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) regime.
Providence is currently seeking expressions of interest from experienced EPS professionals to join our Canberra team. People seeking both permanent and contract work are encouraged to apply.
What you'll do
* Assess & advise: Conduct protective security risk assessments (enterprise, precinct and site), zone ratings, and vulnerability analyses; recommend proportionate treatments aligned to PSPF Release 2024 guidance.
* Design & implement: Co‑design Agency Security Plans, Security Risk Management Frameworks, policies, SOPs and reporting artefacts that enable governance and repeatability.
* Assure & report: Build evidence maps, maturity baselines and actionable uplift roadmaps; support annual PSPF e‑reporting cycles.
* Educate: Develop and deliver protective security education/awareness and change support for stakeholders and executives.
* Collaborate: Work in agile, multi‑disciplinary teams and contribute to our EPS Community of Practice—sharing methods, tools and lessons learned.
What you'll bring
* Protective security capability: Practical experience across physical, personnel and information security, with hands‑on PSPF application in government or critical infrastructure settings.
* Risk & governance: Strong grasp of ISO 31000 risk principles, assurance/reporting disciplines, and proportionate control selection.
* Clear communication: Ability to synthesise complex security issues into plain‑English advice and executive‑ready artefacts.
* Stakeholder skills: Comfortable engaging at all levels—site teams to SES/executive—facilitating workshops, briefings and governance forums.
* Education & credentials: Relevant tertiary study (security, risk, governance, criminology, engineering or similar) and/or industry certifications. NV1 (or ability to obtain) preferred.
Nice to have
* Experience supporting SOCI uplift programs and sector‑specific guidance in health, higher education, utilities or transport.
* Prior delivery of PSPF modernisation programs including multi‑site surveys, maturity reporting and agency plan development.
* Proven ability in targeting new business opportunities; a confident negotiator with proven ability to close the deal.
* A positive and determined approach to researching and analysing new business opportunities; ability to execute against strategic planning.
