The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced BCA Consultant to join their NSW consultancy team. You'll work independently while being supported by a knowledgeable and collaborative group of senior peers. This is not a PCA role, however previous experience as a certifier or Principal Certifier is highly regarded, as you will interface with and support the PCA team when required.

* Travel: Occasional client meetings, workshops and site reviews across Sydney/NSW
Key Responsibilities
* Lead NCC/BCA and equitable access reviews from early design through construction.
* Prepare clear, concise BCA and Access reports, compliance matrices and advisory notes.
* Identify practical pathways to compliance (Deemed-to-Satisfy & Performance-based).
* Coordinate inputs with design teams, including architects and fire engineers.
* Provide early-phase approvals strategy (pre-DA, DA, CDC, CC).
* Liaise with architects, builders, access consultants, certifiers and authorities.
* Support the PCA team with technical input and peer reviews (no statutory PCA functions).
* Attend design workshops, client meetings and occasional site reviews/inspections.
* Contribute to template improvements, QA processes and knowledge sharing.
About You (Essential)
* Proven NSW/Sydney project experience applying the NCC (BCA).
* Strong understanding of equitable access requirements (Premises Standards, AS 1428.1).
* Excellent technical writing skills—able to simplify complex code requirements.
* Solutions-focused approach with commercial awareness.
* Confident working autonomously and managing priorities.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills.
* Australian work rights.
Highly Regarded
* Prior PCA / Principal Certifier / building certifier experience.
* Exposure to fire safety measures and performance-based compliance documentation.
* Familiarity with Bluebeam and Microsoft 365; ability to read Revit/AutoCAD plans.
* Qualifications in Building Surveying, Construction, Engineering, Architecture or similar.
