Position summary


Join our dynamic team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mining projects in Australia. As a slurry specialist, you will lead the design, review, and optimisation of tailings slurry systems, piping, and pumping infrastructure. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering complex sustaining capital projects, acting as the subject matter expert on slurry transport and tailings processes. With a strong background in mechanical engineering and extensive experience in slurry and tailings systems design, you will guide engineering teams to success. This full-time, permanent position offers the opportunity to work on mid to large-scale mining projects, with a focus on innovation and excellence. About the role

* Lead the design, review, and optimization of slurry systems, tailings pipelines, pumping systems, and related mechanical infrastructure for mining projects.
* Act as the subject matter expert on slurry transport and tailings processes within project teams, providing technical guidance and expertise.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver complex sustaining capital projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
* Oversee the development and implementation of process plant layouts for slurry transport, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
* Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in mechanical engineering practices.
* Engage with stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
* Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in slurry and tailings systems to continuously improve project outcomes.


About you

* Holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, with Chartered status being highly regarded.
* Possesses extensive experience in slurry and tailings systems design within mining projects.
* Demonstrates a strong background in pumping, piping, and process plant layouts for slurry transport.
* Proven ability to lead engineering teams and deliver complex sustaining capital projects.
* Experienced in leading the design, review, and optimization of slurry systems, tailings pipelines, and pumping systems.
* Acts as a subject matter expert on slurry transport and tailings processes within project teams.
* Exhibits strong leadership and team management skills.
* Possesses complex problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
* Demonstrates project management expertise, particularly in sustaining capital projects.
* Willingness to relocate to Perth or already has plans to do so.
