Description

Royal Darwin Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the Top End of the Northern Territory.

The Infectious Diseases Unit provides an inpatient, consults and outpatient infectious disease service as well as oversight to the Hospital in the Home and the Viral Hepatitis Services. It also supports the Infection Control, Antimicrobial Stewardship and COVID response programs within the hospital.

The Department currently has 15 Physicians contributing to the service and has strong links with the Territory Pathology Microbiology Laboratory, the NT Centre for Disease Control, and Menzies School of Health Research.

Type of position

Registrar/Senior Registrar – Full Time – Fixed for 12 months.

Remuneration

* Registrar: Comprising salary $122,264 – $153,195, superannuation, leave loading and the value of 2 weeks extra recreation leave.
* Senior Registrar: Comprising salary $166,617 – $182,143, superannuation, leave loading and the value of 2 weeks extra recreation leave.

We have 3 core Infectious Diseases Registrar positions and one Public Health Registrar position based with the NT Centre for Disease Control that can be accredited for non-core training.

There are also opportunities to combine rotations with general medicine and/or microbiology.

* Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Passed RACP written and clinical exam or recognised overseas equivalent and within 3 years of completing fellowship training.
