We are working with a well-established not-for-profit organisation in Sydney's Inner West to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer to join their ICT team.
This role is well suited to someone who has progressed beyond Service Desk or junior infrastructure support and is now looking to take the next step in their infrastructure career. You'll be working across a broad Microsoft-based environment, supporting core systems while also contributing to ongoing improvements and projects.
While there is strong scope for growth and development, the client is specifically seeking someone who remains hands-on and is comfortable getting into the trenches when required - including troubleshooting issues, assisting with tickets, handling escalations, and supporting team members across varying levels of seniority.
About the role
You will support, maintain and improve the organisation's on-prem and cloud infrastructure, working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors. This is a genuinely broad role covering BAU operations as well as project work and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
* Support and maintain Windows Server environments
* Microsoft 365 administration (Azure AD / Entra, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune)
* Virtualisation using VMware and/or Hyper-V
* Backup and disaster recovery systems
* Provide hands-on troubleshooting and escalation support when required
* Assist with BAU operational tasks alongside project work
* Support users and team members across varying technical and seniority levels
* Work with vendors and managed service partners
* Assist with infrastructure upgrades, improvements and migrations
About you
* Proven experience in an infrastructure or senior support role
* Strong Microsoft stack experience (Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure fundamentals)
* Virtualisation and networking experience
* Willing to jump in and help wherever needed
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
* Experience in an SME, MSP or similarly broad environment highly regarded
