We have a new prospect for a Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineer – to join our JORN program. This role will ideally be based in Melbourne, Vic however, other locations may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and testing antenna mechanical systems and components to meet project specifications and performance standards.
- Selecting appropriate materials and manufacturing methods based on performance, quality and cost criteria.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and production to ensure seamless product development and launch.
- Evaluating vendor capabilities and assisting in managing supplier relationships for outsourced manufacturing.
- Conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for quality and function issues.
- Supporting prototype development and transitioning designs into full-scale production.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualifications in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Experience in HF antenna design and manufacturing (understanding general RF principles, wire antenna assembly principles, cable and rigid transmission line layouts, RF connections) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in Design for Manufacturing and Design for Cost methodologies.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships across domestic and international markets.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Experience with prototyping, testing, assembly and manufacturing processes, typically used in antenna assemblies (welding, crimping/swaging, hard soldering, casting/moulding, galvanising, painting, plating, RF cable and fibreoptic cable termination).
- Demonstrated professional integrity, advanced level of technical knowledge, objectivity, acceptance of responsibility, maturity of judgement.
- Proven ability to lead mechanical engineering team will be highly desirable.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain.
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
