Specialist Neonatal Care
The unit at Alice Springs Hospital is a Level 5 neonatal care facility providing specialist support to premature and unwell term babies.
* Specialist care for neonates of 32 weeks gestation and a weight of 1500gms or more.
* Short-term ventilation support with a usual duration of up to 4 days.
Our team includes registered nurses, medical professionals, social workers, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, and perinatal mental health specialists.
Work-Life Balance
7 days a week, 24-hour service with varying shift patterns including 8, 10, and 12 hour days and nights. Routine staffing consists of two registered nurses on each shift, plus a clinical manager present during Monday to Friday business hours.
Care Delivery Model
Babies are admitted into the unit under the care of paediatricians and receive 24-hour support from registered nursing staff and specialist neonatal nurses.
