Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing electricity safety management schemes and bushfire mitigation plans.
You will contribute by:
* Providing guidance and formal feedback to regulated energy entities to meet their obligations under relevant legislation and within our requirements.
* Ensuring safety management schemes and bushfire mitigation plans are fit for purpose, and infrastructure and traction safety management systems and risk assessments are adequately assessed to mitigate potential hazards and risks as far as practicable.
* Leading and/or assisting with audits of regulated energy entity's compliance with safety management schemes and bushfire mitigation plans.
* Preparing and presenting documentation to our safety case evaluation panel and commission for the acceptance of safety management schemes and bushfire mitigation plans submissions.
* Reviewing documents such as asset management plans, technical and construction standards, emergency plans, inspection manuals and reports, to ensure compliance. Analyzing databases to identify and report on safety trends and issues arising from electrical network incidents.
* Providing regulatory guidance to industry, our management and community on infrastructure safety including issues and changes relevant to Victorian legislation, Australian standards, codes, and practices.
* Providing thorough knowledge on the design, construction, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of electricity networks and key safety case outcomes.
* Liaising with regulated energy entities for the timely submission of safety management schemes and bushfire mitigation plans and providing timely advice to the regulated energy entities for their acceptance.
* Assisting in the investigation of infrastructure incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements and preparing technical reports, making enquiries, and supporting evidence gathering for prosecutions.
* Maintaining effective relationships with government, peak bodies, industry infrastructure stakeholders and regulated entities.
* Providing regular reports, analysis, and recommendations to management and where necessary working with our legal team to prepare improvement notices, direction letters and enforcement recommendations.
* Mentoring, coaching, and supporting others to ensure consistency and quality in delivery of service.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful, you'll have:
* A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering.
* Relevant experience of more than seven years in the electricity industry.
* Expert knowledge of the principles and application of safety management and knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
* A comprehensive understanding and prior experience with safety management systems and formal safety assessment frameworks.
* Strong skills and experience in delivering audit tasks, including formal reports providing assurance and advice to senior management.
* Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills and ability to interpret and apply relevant safety standards in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, and standards.

We also licence electricians, manage the Certificate of Electrical Safety Program, conduct community safety campaigns, ensure electrical and gas products are approved and safe for use, and investigate gas and electrical incidents.
