The Position
Council is seeking a suitably qualified and enthusiastic planning professional with broad and extensive experience in the assessment of development applications to join our development planning team. A high standard of interpersonal communication, negotiation and writing skills are essential. The role is ideal for planning professionals who thrive in a dynamic, fast‐paced environment and will engage with diverse projects across the Fairfield LGA.
The successful applicant will be a self‐motivated individual capable of exercising delegation and case‐managing development proposals, preparing reports, and attending the Land and Environment Court and the Fairfield Local Planning Panel (FLPP) in addition to directing and facilitating input into Council's planning policies and strategies.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* University degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning, or a related discipline
* Good communication and report writing skills
* Extensive experience in assessing development applications
* Working knowledge of all relevant planning legislation
* Ability to provide pre‐development advice to prospective applicants
* Conflict resolution/negotiation skills
* A valid driver's licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Postgraduate qualifications in urban and regional planning or a related discipline
* Experience in urban design and principles of architecture
* Experience in staff supervision/mentoring
* Experience in the Land and Environment Court
Salary & Employment Conditions
* Full‐time, permanent position – 35 hours per week
* Grade 7 – salary range $104,720 per annum with performance progression to $122,668 per annum
