About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Amazon Redshift Data Engineer to join a high-performing data team responsible for the design, development, and optimisation of large-scale data warehouse and data application solutions.
In this role, you will work across end-to-end data engineering activities, including SQL-based application development and migration, data modelling, performance optimisation, and implementation of robust data pipelines within a modern cloud environment.
You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and well-governed data solutions aligned with Agile and DevOps practices.
The Successful Candidate
You will be a senior-level data engineer with strong cloud data warehouse experience and a deep passion for high-quality, performant SQL-driven solutions.
Qualifications & Certifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience
* DBT and Databricks Data Engineer certification or demonstrable hands-on experience
* Ongoing external training aligned to modern data and cloud technologies (desirable)
Experience & Technical Expertise
* 5+ years' experience in a large-scale Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, or Data Applications environment, ideally within Insurance
* Strong experience developing and migrating SQL-based applications across heterogeneous databases, including end-to-end testing and reconciliation
* Exceptionally strong SQL skills with a proven performance-first mindset
* Hands-on experience with data acquisition and data movement across files, databases, and systems
* Proven experience building and optimising data models using DBT (Core or Cloud) at scale
Core Technologies
* AWS Redshift – Mandatory
* AWS S3 – Mandatory
* Databricks – Mandatory
* CSV, JSON, XML, Parquet, and Relational data – Mandatory
* Experience with geospatial, hierarchical, and XLSX formats (desirable)
DevOps & Tooling
* Git and Bitbucket – Mandatory
* SourceTree or similar version control tools
* Strong experience implementing CI/CD and test pipelines for data platforms
Additional Capabilities
* Strong data analysis, data mapping, and validation skills
* Experience working with conceptual, logical, and physical data models (Data Vault 2.0, Inmon, or Kimball)
* Strong stakeholder engagement and consulting capability
* Excellent communication, mentoring, and coaching skills
* Proven experience working in Agile and Lean delivery environments
* Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to lead by example across test-driven development, DevOps, coding standards, change management, and data governance
* A strong "big picture" mindset, with the ability to translate complex business problems into practical technical solutions
