About the role
We are seeking a NV2, Security Operations Lead to Engineer, implement and manage security solutions across diverse platforms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust security practices and incidents response capabilities. Lead security efforts, leveraging a strong technical background, with a detailed focus on governance, risk management, and compliance.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* Security Governance and Compliance:
* Ensure adherence to PSPF, DSPF and ISM.
* Develop and implement security policies, procedures and standards.
* Lead Assessment and Authorisation activities for a project.
* Security Analysis and Engineering:
* Analyse, design and implement security best practices for Microsoft, OpenShift, Linux, Citrix, gateways and networked environments.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into development and sustainment activities.
* Administer and maintain security applications.
* Conduct risk assessments of current/future technology deployments and prioritise mitigation efforts.
* Work with engineers to address identified risks.
* Asset Scanning and Vulnerability Analysis:
* Conduct automated asset discovery and vulnerability scans.
* Regularly assess vulnerabilities in systems, applications, and network devices.
* Coordinate patch management and remediation efforts.
* Security Compliance and Testing:
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISM Essential Eight, CIS and NIST)
* Maintain security artefacts and governance documentation (SOA, SSP, SRMP).
* Lead the creation, implementation and maintenance of test cases to evaluate the security compliance of systems, applications and networks.
* Security Monitoring and Incident Response:
* Monitor, and improve on, existing security operations dashboards and alerts.
* Investigate and analyse events, leading efforts during security incident activities.
* Conduct work in accordance with the Project Agile Methodology, including maintaining Jira and Confluence.
Experience:
* Gateway and Cross Domain Solution experience.
* Deep understanding of security fundamentals, with detailed exposure to Asset Management, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), Security Operations & Engineering and Risk Management techniques.
* Proficiency in securitising Microsoft technologies (Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory, Active Directory Certification Services, MS SQL).
* Skilled ability to interpret, and tune logging and monitoring tools (syslog, windows events and Splunk)
* Experience with system level hardening of Citrix, Horizon, OpenShift and/or Red Hat Enterprise.
* Proven experience with Security assessments and testing methodologies.
* Hands on understanding of networking security fundamentals, including 802.1x, and firewall administration.
* Familiarity with scripting and automation techniques (PowerShell, Bash, YAML, Python).
* Strong problem-solving skills, and methodical approach to documentation.
* Candidates with significant Defence experience and/or Security Operations experience will be held in high regard.
* Ability to work well in a team environment, communicate effectively with technical leads & project management to meet project deadlines.
* 10 to 15 years minimum security experience in industry and Defence.
* CISSP, CRISC, CISM or CISA level certifications highly regarded.
