Since 1958, Ashwood High School has been an integral part of the community, blending strong traditional values with a contemporary approach to education. Our state-of-the-art facilities are set on a 15-hectare campus with expansive and exceptional grounds. A major building program was completed in 2024 with the opening of our STEAM and Research Centre, further enhancing the breadth and depth of learning opportunities for our students. Ashwood High School consistently achieves strong academic outcomes. Our VCE median study score was 32 in 2025, with 10.1% of students achieving study scores of 40 or above. In recognition of these results, Ashwood High School was named one of the Top Government Schools in Victoria for VCE Results in 2025. We focus on developing critically aware, resilient, and independent learners. Our school prides itself on a strong sense of community and provides a welcoming, secure, and orderly learning environment. By establishing essential preconditions ¿ student safety, high expectations, consistent routines and authentic relationships ¿ we create an environment where students are encouraged to strive for excellence and celebrate success in all its forms. Our substantial awards and recognition program operates across all year levels, with a strong emphasis on student voice and leadership. We believe deep learning is facilitated by high-quality teaching practice. This occurs when all learners are actively engaged in differentiated, challenging and academically rigorous learning experiences. We value the whole person and are committed to fostering positive, adaptable and socially aware young people. Our students benefit from a wide range of co-curricular opportunities designed to develop talent across four key areas:
¿ Academic Excellence
¿ Sporting Excellence
¿ Creative Arts
¿ Civics, Citizenship and Leadership As members of the Ashwood High School community, our behaviours are guided by our CHOIR values:
¿ Community of learning and trust
¿ High Expectations ¿ aspire to your personal best
¿ Optimism, reflection and resilience
¿ Innovation, creativity and sustainability
¿ Respect for teachers, students, school and self We encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning, progress and behaviour, while fostering collaboration, cooperation and a shared commitment to high expectations for success. At Ashwood High School, we are a school with heart ¿ where every student is known, supported and valued, both as a person and as a learner. Selection Criteria SC1. Demonstrated expertise in guiding and supporting students through the development of their career and pathway plans.
SC2. Demonstrated high attention to detail, supported by strong time management, planning, and organisational skills.
SC3. Demonstrated a calm, confident, and diplomatic approach, maintaining a positive attitude when working with students and collaborating effectively with staff and others
SC4. Demonstrated effectiveness in working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
SC5. Demonstrated well-developed knowledge of vocational and assistance programs available to students.
SC6. Demonstrated ability to proficiently use computer software applications and perform administrative tasks with a high level of accuracy and efficiency. Role Attendance during term breaks may be required and a leave purchase allowance will be paid for this time. Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs. Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations. This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management. An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher. Responsibilities
* Ensure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.
* Provide administrative support to external service providers as required.
