Position Overview
The Accounts Officer supports the effective delivery of finance operations across our organisation.
Working closely with the Finance and Reporting Manager, the Accounts Officer will be responsible for maintaining financial records, carrying out bank reconciliations, the accounts payable and receivable functions, and other ad-hoc tasks to support day-to-day financial administration as required.
The role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth running of our finance function and the accuracy of financial data across our programs and services.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Reconcile bank transactions daily
* Accounts Receivable: accurate preparation of invoices, aged debtor reporting, and assistance with debt collection
* Accounts Payable: accurate inputting of supplier bills and scheduling of payments
* Grant Disbursements: prepare grant payments in Xero and the relevant bank accounts ready for approval and disbursement
* Maintain accurate financial records and files
* Assist with month-end balance sheet reconciliations
* Contribute to improvements in financial processes and systems
* Other related activities as reasonably directed
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
* Strong understanding of financial processes, reconciliations, and double entry accounting
* High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
* Experience in accounts payable and/or receivable roles
* High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
* Excellent organisational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively and efficiently
* A customer-focussed mindset and strong interpersonal skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences
* Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously improve
Desirable
* Experience with Xero
* Familiarity with the charitable sector
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping
Employment Type
* This is a part time role for 3 days per week.
* We are flexible as to whether this is 3 full days, or shorter days over the week.
* The whole team is in the office Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, with the option to work from home Thursdays and Fridays.
