The Role
Senior Back-End Software Engineer – Builders team in Sydney.
Responsible for the core builder experience on the Relevance AI platform, specifically the agent builder, tool builder, and workforce builder functionalities. Focus is on building systems that make AI usable, reliable and production‐ready.
Work across a modern tech stack. Lead projects, mentor teammates, and own critical services and infrastructure without excessive approval layers.
Your Impact
* Design, build and operate scalable back‐end systems that power AI agent and workflow builders.
* Own mission‐critical services and infrastructure, delivering features from ideation to production.
* Push the boundaries of applied AI by enabling new agent capabilities, workflow orchestration and system behaviours.
* Shape engineering standards, architecture and processes as the product scales.
* Mentor and support engineers across the team, raising technical quality and ownership standards.
* Set and uphold high standards for code quality, performance, reliability and security.
* Collaborate closely with product, design and leadership teams to align technical direction with business outcomes.

This is a back‐end‐focused role. Front‐end experience is optional; the priority is robust back‐end systems and scalable architecture.
What We're Looking For
* 4+ years of hands‐on software engineering experience, ideally within fast‐paced, high‐growth tech environments.
* Strong experience designing, building and maintaining production back‐end systems.
* Experience designing and operating APIs (REST or GraphQL) and distributed systems.
* Thrives in dynamic, high‐performance startup settings and is comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration and initiative.
* Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of projects, solve complex problems and consistently deliver high‐quality, impactful results.
* Deep interest in artificial intelligence and excitement to build innovative, category‐defining products.
* Regularly leverages AI tools and keeps up to date with the latest advancements to boost productivity and innovation.
Bonus Points If You Have
* Experience building ecosystems and native integrations.
* Contributions to open‐source projects.
* Hands‐on experience with LLMs, agent workflows or AI infrastructure.
