The Internal Audit function within Finance and Governance provides independent, objective assurance to Management and the Board. Its purpose is to protect and enhance AEMO's organisational value through risk‐based assurance, advice and insights that strengthen governance, risk management and internal controls, supporting achievement of AEMO's strategic objectives.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Internal Auditor to join the team. In this role, you will execute the risk‐based audit plan, develop robust audit approaches and build strong stakeholder relationships across the business. You will apply audit and data analysis expertise, together with strong communication skills, to influence outcomes and drive continuous improvement across AEMO's control environment. This is a Melbourne based position. For these positions applicants must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance which will be supported by AEMO.
What You Will Be Doing
* Partner with stakeholders to develop the assurance map and audit universe for the Strategic Internal Audit Plan
* Plan, execute and document audits in line with established methodologies
* Assess control design and effectiveness across infrastructure, applications and data processes
* Identify risks and recommend improvements to IT processes and controls
* Deliver clear audit reports to Senior Management and monitor remediation actions
* Manage co‐sourced audits and apply data insights to drive improvement
What You Will Bring To The Role
Education
* Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Accounting, Engineering or related fields
* Professional qualifications in CISA, CISSP, CA or equivalent are preferred
Experience and Knowledge
* Demonstrated internal audit and risk experience leading audit engagements/programs (energy sector desirable)
* Strong experience auditing IT operations, IT risk management and cybersecurity
* Sound knowledge of IT governance frameworks and internal audit standards/methodologies
* Excellent written and verbal communication, presenting complex information clearly
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong stakeholder engagement
* Analytical, detail‐oriented mindset with ability to deliver insights for continuous improvement
