Location: Townsville, QLD
Contract: 12 months casual assignment + potential 12‐month extension
Classification: APS3 equivalent
Are you passionate about supporting the wellbeing of veterans and their families? We're seeking an experienced Service Support Officer to join a high‐performing mental health and wellbeing service in Townsville.
This role offers meaningful work, supportive leadership, and the chance to contribute to positive outcomes for those who have served Australia.
About the Role
As a Service Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact for clients accessing counselling and wellbeing services for veterans and their families. You'll play a key role in delivering high‐quality customer service, administrative support, and operational coordination within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
You'll be supported with ongoing development, flexible work options and the opportunity to contribute to an inclusive, diverse and values‐driven workplace.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Provide professional customer service to clients, visitors, and stakeholders in person, over the phone, and via email/SMS
* Manage appointment bookings and client interactions using the Client Management System
* Support clinical teams with administrative tasks, workflow coordination, and record keeping
* Assist in organising regional events, group programs, internal meetings, and community initiatives
* Prepare and distribute correspondence relating to referrals, appointments, and client services
* Support operational activities including travel arrangements, invoice processing, resource requests, and property/maintenance coordination
* Contribute to reporting, quality assurance, and operational data requirements
* Uphold workplace standards across WHS, diversity, APS Values, and Code of Conduct
* Support the organisation's vision and commitment to delivering accessible and high‐quality mental health services
About You –
You will thrive in this role if you have:
* Experience in administrative support within health, community services, or government environments
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Confidence handling frontline customer service interactions with sensitivity and professionalism
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
* Strong organisational, workflow management and data entry skills
Mandatory Requirements
* Australian citizenship (required under the Public Service Act)
* Ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People registration or a Working with Children Check
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline AGSVA Security Clearance
* Willingness to undergo pre‐employment screening
