About the role
Reporting to the Supervisor Development, the UG Charge‐Up Operator is responsible for the safe and compliant charging of underground development headings. The role supports the development and production cycle by operating charge cars, handling explosives safely, preparing headings for blasting, and ensuring compliance with all statutory and site safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
* Operate charge cars safely and efficiently to complete development charging activities
* Handle, transport and secure explosives in accordance with legislative and site requirements
* Charge development headings to design specifications and standards
* Complete thorough pre‐start inspections and report equipment faults or damage
* Maintain high housekeeping standards across work areas
* Assist with underground service, bogging or support tasks when required
* Participate in hazard identification, safety reporting and statutory compliance activities
* Demonstrate safe behaviour and contribute to a proactive safety culture
About you
* Previous underground mining experience
* Charge‐Up competency and demonstrated explosives handling experience
* Normet Charge Car or equivalent equipment competency
* Bogger operations experience (highly regarded)
* Understanding of development mining cycles and ground support systems
* Current C‐class Driver's Licence and QSEC Card
* Relevant underground competencies such as Working at Heights and vent/reticulation
* Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously and within a team
* Mechanical aptitude, strong observation skills and a commitment to safety
