Health Safety & Wellbeing Specialist
Healthscope is seeking an experienced HSW Specialist to join them at The Geelong Clinic, Victoria.
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Specialist has overall responsibility for developing the Site HSW Improvement Plan. The role partners with and supports the Hospital Executive Team, Managers, Supervisors, and the Health and Safety Committee (HSC) to deliver the Site Improvement Plan. They provide management system technical advice and support to ensure compliance with the HSW Strategy, HSW Management System, regulatory frameworks, and accreditation standards.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Build capability and enhance safety accountability among Managers, Supervisors, and HSC members through coaching and influencing to implement and embed the HSW Management System and programs.
2. Promote HSW practices through active field-based leadership and engagement.
3. Drive safe systems of work, conduct quality incident investigations, and deliver visible leadership through education, coaching, and monitoring programs.
4. Consult with Managers, Supervisors, HSC, contractors, and third parties on operational safety issues; provide advice and identify opportunities to improve HSW outcomes.
5. Participate in risk management activities, including facilitating risk and workplace assessments, developing SOPs, conducting control verifications, participating in assurance activities, and leading LTI investigations.
6. Conduct performance monitoring activities such as preparing site HSW reports; develop and monitor gap closure plans in consultation with the Site Executive Team.
7. Review Site HSW performance with the Site Executive Team to identify trends and hotspots, and celebrate successes.
8. Participate in regulator inspections related to HSW.
9. Contribute to the delivery of strategic programs and initiatives at the state and national levels, including forums and advisory committees to enhance HSW.
