The program
The Pillowcase Workshops are school-based disaster preparedness sessions for students aged 8-10 (years 3-4), aimed at building their knowledge and capacity in disaster preparedness. These workshops are part of Red Cross's broader emergency preparedness, response, and recovery programs.
The opportunity
As a Pillowcase Workshop Facilitator, you will join a network of volunteers conducting one-hour sessions in schools where children learn about disaster preparedness through an interactive activity decorating a pillowcase.
The impact
Emergencies can occur anytime, from large-scale events like floods or fires to personal tragedies. Better emergency preparedness helps individuals, families, and communities recover more effectively. This role offers a chance to make a meaningful difference in your community.

As an Emergency Services volunteer, you will help people become better prepared, more connected, and resilient during emergencies. Red Cross supports your development with training and resources.
Application requirements
* Complete a National Police Check, organized through Red Cross
* Hold or apply for a Working with Children or Vulnerable People Check, depending on your state/territory (Red Cross can assist)
* Provide two professional references
