The Role
Reporting to the CIO, this role is accountable for the governance, commercial management, and performance of this organisation's IT vendor ecosystem, spanning infrastructure, applications, cloud services, and managed service providers.
You'll act as the commercial conduit between IT Leadership, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and external vendors, ensuring contracts are understood, enforced, optimised, and aligned to business outcomes. Collaborating with technology leaders who are ultimately responsible for the vendor relationships, you will provide commercial leadership, structure, and oversight.
The role oversees a large and diverse vendor landscape (200+ vendors), operating across tiered vendor models with formal performance reviews, renewal cycles, and contract governance. You'll lead contract renegotiations, manage renewals, track spend versus contract entitlements, manage credits and penalties, and ensure the organisation is protected from commercial and service risk.
A key focus of the role is budget coordination and financial governance; tracking vendor spend, forecasting future costs, supporting annual budget preparation, and providing monthly reporting and insights to IT leadership and Finance.
As this organisation modernises its technology stack and replaces legacy platforms, you'll play a central role in supporting RFPs, major sourcing decisions, and large scale contract negotiations tied to enterprise systems and clinical platforms.
What you bring to the role
* 3 to 5+ years' experience in IT vendor, commercial, or contract management roles.
* Strong experience negotiating, governing, and optimising technology contracts and third party services
* Proven ability to manage complex, multi-vendor environments with competing priorities
* Strong commercial acumen and comfort operating at scale, with experience tracking spend, forecasting costs, and supporting budget cycles
* Strong stakeholder management skills, working across IT, Finance, Legal, and senior leadership
* Comfortable operating autonomously in a one-person vendor/commercial function
* Advanced Excel skills and confidence working in manual or evolving systems environments
* Health sector experience beneficial but not essential
What's in it for you?
A rare opportunity to step into a high-impact commercial role within a purpose led organisation, supporting a significant multi-year technology investment pipeline. You'll gain exposure to major enterprise systems, large-scale procurement activity, and complex vendor negotiations — all while contributing to outcomes that genuinely matter to the Victorian community.
