Greater Dandenong City Council is located 35km southeast of Melbourne and covers 129 square kilometres with a population of over 169,000. The central activities district is Melbourne's second largest retail and commercial centre and includes large shopping complexes at Dandenong and Keysborough as well as the Dandenong Market. The Council is culturally diverse, with residents from over 150 birthplaces. Key industries include manufacturing, health care and social assistance, retail trade, wholesale trade and transport. The Council has approximately 900 employees and supports development, innovation, and a respectful, engaged, creative and honest workplace culture.

About the Role

There is a permanent opportunity with the Council’s Festivals and Events team for a Festivals and Events Support Officer. You will work on Council’s award-winning events program and support the community’s events in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Current conditions allow hybrid working (work from home and office). Strong communication skills and a can-do attitude are highly regarded, with some weekend and evening work for events.

Reporting to the Coordinator Festivals and Events, the role will:

- Provide administrative and project support for major Council-led and community festivals and events.
- Respond to enquiries from internal and external partners and community and corporate event organisers.
- Assist in festivals and events promotion including distribution of materials and social media.
- Work with other teams across Council to help facilitate high quality events, activities and festivals.

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a clear Working with Children Check and consent to a national police check (and where relevant an international criminal history check), subject to spent conviction laws. Note that having a criminal record does not automatically bar you from applying; each application is considered on its merits.

- Competitive salary
- Salary sacrifice childcare (where available)
- Flexible working options including hybrid work
