About The V-Centre Veteran Empowerment Program
Veteran Empowerment Program at the V Centre in Ivanhoe provides transitional accommodation and wraparound support services to veterans who may have a range of complex social and/or health needs and are at risk of homelessness, with the goal of empowering them to live a meaningful life with stable accommodation.

About the role
The Program Support Worker will have the opportunity to work with veterans of any age who seek support at The V Centre due to homelessness or risk of homelessness. You will engage with participants to provide support, skill-building, connection to services and engagement to assist in meeting the participants' holistic needs and to improve their health and wellbeing.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be a kind and effective communicator and be confident to relate positively with our veteran participants, employees and stakeholders. Your understanding of veteran needs and culture of peer support and camaraderie will be very highly regarded.
We are looking for people who bring diverse skillsets to the role that will assist building life skills and wellness in others, such as but not limited to topics like: personal trainer, chef/food preparation/healthy eating, experience as a social/community worker, experience as a disability support worker, life coach, yoga teacher, experience with a trade such as carpentry or similar, art therapy, sports team coaching or member of leadership group.
You will also have:
* Certificate IV or equivalent in community services, welfare or AOD, or related experience in nursing, personal training, coaching etc.
* Demonstrated ability in effectively dealing with challenging behaviours, and to think clearly and analytically for responding appropriately to unexpected situations as they arise.
* Demonstrated strong computer literacy with emphasis on Microsoft Office, client management systems and internet.
* Current full Victorian Driver's license and ability and willingness to drive bus/van.
* Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain the qualification.
* Willingness to undergo a National police check and provide proof of rights to work in Australia
