About The Opportunity
The Human Resources team sits within Council’s Corporate Performance Directorate and is responsible for a diverse range of services across Cumberland, supporting people leaders across the employee lifecycle. This includes advice on team structures, recruitment, employee and industrial relations, and learning and development, as well as contributing to key organisation initiatives and HR projects.
The team were the recipients of the 2022 Employment Diversity – Metro Award at the Minister’s Awards for Women in Local Government and received an Honourable Mention at the 2023 National Awards for Local Government for our Mentoring and Development Program, and proudly deliver internal services which educate, inspire and build the capability of our leaders and staff.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning and Development Officer to join our Organisation Development team to assist with developing the capabilities of employees across the organisation.
Reporting to the Coordinator Organisation Development, the role will work closely to coordinate and support the delivery of effective Learning and Development programs including e-learning modules, organisation development initiatives and will be responsible for administering Council's Learning Management System.
The Successful Applicant Will Require
* Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or significant experience in the area of training and development
* Experience administering an online Learning Management System (LMS) and e-learning content creation tools
* Demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating training programs
* Previous experience in the delivery of training, assessment and mentoring
* Possess excellent customer service skills
* High level of written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
* Well-developed time management skills
* Sound knowledge of training and development principles and practices
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs
* Class C drivers licence.

About This Role
* This is a 12 month full-time term contract position, commencing early August 2025
* 70 hour fortnight
* Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
* Located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
* Grade 9 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,460.14 to $1,679.17 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
* The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

* The right to live and work in Australia
* Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
* Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
* Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
