About Us
BBC1 Pty Ltd is an early-stage Australian technology company developing a specialised low-power integrated circuit architecture for high-performance edge computing in industrial IoT. We are building the foundation for sovereign Australian capability in chip design and smart sensor technologies.
Role Overview
We are seeking a talented Semiconductor / IC Chip Designer to support the design and development of a low-power integrated circuit for industrial IoT and edge computing applications. This role will suit someone with experience in semiconductor design, digital or mixed-signal ICs, and low-power embedded systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop semiconductor or IC architecture for low-power edge computing applications.
* Collaborate on block-level and system-level chip design concepts.
* Support simulation, modelling, verification, and documentation of chip functions.
* Work with industrial IoT requirements such as low power, reliability, and local data processing.
* Contribute to research and development planning for prototype and fabrication pathways.
* Liaise with external research partners, foundries, and technical advisors as required.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Experience in semiconductor, ASIC, SoC, mixed-signal, or IC design.
* Knowledge of low-power design methods and digital system architecture.
* Familiarity with industrial IoT, sensors, embedded systems, or edge AI is an advantage.
* Experience with design tools, simulation tools, or chip verification workflows.
* Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, or related field preferred. Bonus skills (these will make you stand out in your application):
o Proven experience performing Physical Layer (PHY) bring-up, debug and performance measurement on silicon in the lab
o A good understanding of embedded processors, familiarity with RISC-V is a plus
o Experience using the git revision control tool
o Experience with development and debugging of digital designs from RTL design through
What We Offer
o Opportunity to join an innovative Australian startup at an early stage.
o Chance to help build a new chip concept from the ground up.
o Flexible working arrangements.
o Potential for meaningful long-term contribution to a sovereign technology project.
About the Project
Our project aims to develop a specialised low-power integrated circuit architecture that enables high-performance edge computing in industrial IoT. The chip is intended to process data locally, reduce energy consumption, and improve response time in remote and battery-powered sensor systems.
