Position Information Merrylands High School is a comprehensive high school in Sydney's South West with a growing population that currently sits at over 839 students. The school is proud to celebrate its cultural and linguistic diversity, with 87.3% of students having a non-English speaking background shared across a total of 45 unique languages. The school has 7 support classes, 3 Multi-Categorical and 4 Autism classes. Selection Criteria Approval to teach English as an additional language or dialect (primary) or currently undertaking or enrolled in English as an additional language or dialect qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to actively collaborate with students, staff and the wider community to build positive relationships that support student outcomes and promote an inclusive school culture. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement high quality engaging and effective differentiated teaching and learning EALD programs and resources to maximise the learning outcomes of the diverse cultures including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. Demonstrated capacity to track growth in the effective use of ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions and ESL Scales and contribute to whole-school data collection and reporting practices. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
