About The Role
As a Youth Worker, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for at‐risk youth with complex support needs. In this hands‐on role, you will assist young people in their daily lives offering support with life skills.
The Key Responsibilities
* Assist with routines like meals, hygiene, cleaning, homework, and personal development activities within a structured, home‐like environment.
* Act as a trusted adult and role model, encouraging participation in recreational, cultural, and life skills activities.
* Implement behaviour support strategies and care plans designed in consultation with the Therapeutic Support Team.
* Observe and document changes in wellbeing or behaviour, and escalate concerns to the Program Coordinator or on‐call staff as needed.
* Work closely with other Youth Workers, senior staff, and external services to ensure consistent and quality care in a 24/7 rostered environment.
This role requires availability Monday to Sunday including overnight shifts and public holidays.
About You
To be successful in this position you should have demonstrated experience working with young people with complex trauma and at‐risk behaviours. Have a strong understanding of child protection, youth welfare systems, and trauma‐informed practice. Be a compassionate and calm approach to behaviour management and life skills development.
Additionally
* A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or equivalent and experience in working with 'at risk' youth
* A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* A valid Driver's Licence and First Aid Certificate
* Previous experience in trauma informed practice is highly regarded
* Sound knowledge of services to youth, child and family welfare, and child protection processes
