The key duties of the position include:

Employment Opportunity

The EL1 Lead Records Manager works in the records management unit developing and implementing the strategic plans to support the full information and records management lifecycle. This role requires a blend of subject matter expertise in information governance and digital systems, strong leadership with excellent analytical and communication skills. This role requires significant experience and knowledge of the relevant legislation and compliance requirements.

An excellent understanding of information management and records processes and outcomes is fundamental to this role. This role leads a small information and records management team to support day to day operations.

The department is currently transitioning from OpenText Content Manager to M365 manage-in-place information and records management. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of Content Manager and the application of record requirements in M365. The transition to M365 will require the Lead Record Manager to undertake extensive consultation with business areas in defining records requirements.

Content Manager houses the department's electronic and physical records. This role is required to work at the department's head office in Barton to support the physical file processing activities.

How can you help make a difference

The Information and Web Services team is seeking an experienced and strategic Lead Records Manager to transition the department from a traditional custodial information and records management environment to a manage records-in-place approach. This leadership role is responsible for shaping and delivering the department's records management strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation, and support the transition to modern information and records management practices.

Our ideal candidate will have:

* Extensive experience in government electronic and physical information and records management and compliance (minimum 5 years)
* Good working knowledge of OpenText Content Manager and the application of records management in M365
* Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement modern record management practices.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Experience leading a records management team
* And maintain up to date knowledge of legislation and policy, providing advice to management and staff

Other qualifications:

The applicant must hold an Information Studies degree (Records and Archive Management) from an Australian tertiary institution

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment at the Attorney-General's Department applicants must be Australian citizens.

Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level. The successful applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created from this process, and will be active for 18 months after the date of this gazettal.
