About The Role
The Senior Insurance Officer will lead the provision of Townsville City Council's insurance portfolio. through:
* The effective management of insurance claims.
* Working collaboratively with insurers and Council management to attract and retain value for money insurance policies.
* The provision of high-level, strategic and informed advice and services to a range of stakeholders including underwriters, claims experts and senior management.
About You
What you'll do:
* Manage the 'end to end' process for all under excess common law claims including investigating, assessing and determining the council's liability in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
* Provide technical expert advice and guidance to senior management and Councilors on a broad range of insurance related matters and legislative requirements to drive reduced risk outcomes for Council.
* Provide professional leadership to staff who are required to provide witness statements in Legal proceedings. Be the central point of contact between Council and Legal representatives appointed by Council's Insurer for court proceedings relating to insurance matters.
* Maintain rosters, leave, training and development plans for all Insurance team members supervised and ensure the Insurance team members supervised, maintain skills, knowledge and experience to perform the duties as required for current and future business needs.
