* Salary: $116,636 – $129,479 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Opportunity
As the HRIS Specialist, you will play a crucial technical role in the Pay Confidence Program. This multi‑year initiative aims to correct historical payroll errors, improve data accuracy, and establish stronger controls in Western Sydney University's HR and payroll systems. Working within the Technical Stream, you will translate complex business requirements into robust system solutions that support accurate payments and sustainable payroll operations.
You will lead the design and execution of data extraction strategies, conduct parameter remediation, and ensure that system configurations meet operational standards. Your work will directly influence data quality, compliance, and the reliability of future payroll processes.
Working closely with the Program Data and Analytics Lead, IT, Payroll Operations, and external vendors, you will coordinate system changes across environments, support user acceptance testing, and maintain the documentation required for audit and governance. This role is critical in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and confidence in payroll outcomes across the University.
What Success Looks Like:
* Deliver reliable data extracts using advanced SQL and maintain a clear audit trail of extraction logic.
* Implement accurate HRIS and payroll parameter updates through structured testing and controlled deployments.
* Prepare and validate payroll payment files that meet system specifications and reconcile results with Payroll Operations.
* Maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support compliance, knowledge sharing, and future system enhancements.
* Collaborate effectively with IT, vendors, and program stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain data integrity.

About You
* Demonstrated experience administering and configuring HRIS or payroll systems, ideally Oracle.
* Advanced SQL capability with experience manipulating large and complex datasets.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret business requirements into technical solutions.
* Experience conducting data quality assessments and implementing system improvements.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
